In terms of the outcome and recovery, there is no significant difference for the patient between having All-on-4 implants placed on both jaws at once or in stages. During the first 1–2 weeks, the quality of life following simultaneous surgery is generally no different from recovery after surgery on a single jaw.
Performing the procedure on both the upper and lower jaws at the same time does indeed increase the duration and scope of the procedure. However, thanks to sedation, the patient is in a medically induced sleep, experiences no discomfort, and the anesthesiologist constantly monitors their condition. The medications used also contribute to a more comfortable postoperative period.
