Metal braces fitting in Warsaw.
Metal braces are a classic and well-established solution in orthodontics. In the past, they were associated with bulky and uncomfortable devices, but modern systems have changed significantly: they have become more compact, neat, and much more aesthetically pleasing.

They are a reliable tool for correcting even complex malocclusions, ensuring high precision and consistent results. Their key advantages are the durability of the design and the predictability of treatment.

Braces are recommended for:
  • complex malocclusions requiring significant tooth movement;
  • treating adolescents, when the durability of the system is important;
  • cases requiring the most reliable design possible;
  • a limited treatment budget.

The choice of braces system is always made by the dentist based on clinical indications. Sometimes, it is not just an option, but the only possible solution for achieving the desired result.
This is a reliable option that handles any challenge with ease. Metal braces are more hygienic, which is especially important when treating adolescents.

Benefits and Types of Metal Braces
Benefits
Ease of Care.
Metal is easy to clean, does not absorb dyes, and does not require any special care products. This makes the system convenient for teenagers and busy people.
Durability and Reliability.
Metal braces are resistant to chipping and breakage. If such a brace needs to be reattached, it won’t crack or break—this is especially important when working with teenagers or during complex tooth movements.
Effectiveness for complex malocclusions.
Braces are suitable for correcting any malocclusion, even the most complex cases. This is the most versatile and reliable option.
Affordable cost.
Metal braces are a budget-friendly option for orthodontic treatment without compromising on quality or effectiveness.
Types
There are several types of metal braces:
  • Ligature braces—the classic option, where the bracket is attached to the archwire using special rubber bands (ligatures). This is a time-tested system that allows the dentist to precisely control tooth movement.
  • Ligature-free (self-ligating) – a modern option in which the brackets are attached to the wire using special clips. This system requires fewer visits to the dentist for adjustments.
Stages of Treatment at MONÉ Dental Clinic
Correcting a malocclusion at “MONÉ” is a team effort involving specialists and a well-defined process:
Consultation and Diagnosis
The process begins with an initial consultation. The dentist examines your mouth and takes photographs to track the progress of your treatment. You can discuss your concerns and expectations regarding the outcome. It is recommended that you bring a CT scan to your appointment or have one performed on the day of your visit. A CT scan helps assess the position of the roots, bone volume, and individual anatomical features.

Next, orthodontic diagnostics are performed—depending on the clinical situation, this may involve a basic or comprehensive functional analysis. It may include a teleradiograph, orthopantomogram, condylography, as well as casting of jaw models in an articulator. The scope of the examination is tailored to each individual.
Treatment Planning
After the diagnosis, the doctor explains the proposed treatment plan in detail, taking your preferences and budget into account, and helps you choose the best option.
Preparation of the Oral Cavity
Before braces are fitted, the patient must undergo dental treatment: treat cavities, resolve any inflammation, and remove tartar. This is important to prevent complications during treatment. If necessary, the patient is referred to other specialists—such as a general practitioner, a surgeon, and others.
Braces Installation
Braces are attached to the teeth using a special adhesive that does not damage the enamel. After the entire system is installed, there may be an adjustment period—at first, the braces may feel unusual, but the discomfort goes away over time.
Active Treatment Phase and Follow-Up
The duration of treatment depends on the complexity of the case and the patient’s age; it usually lasts 1–2 years. During this time, it is important to visit the orthodontist regularly for adjustments, such as replacing arches or installing additional components. The schedule of visits is tailored to each individual, and adhering to it is critical for achieving the desired result.

If you experience any discomfort, you should contact your doctor immediately—for example, they can apply orthodontic wax if the appliance components are irritating the mucous membrane.
Removal of Braces
Once treatment is complete, the system is removed, and the teeth are cleaned of any remaining adhesive and polished. A professional cleaning is performed, and remineralization therapy is provided if necessary.

Lifelong Retention: Why It Matters
After braces are removed, it’s important to maintain the results. The bone and ligaments need time to adapt to the new position of the teeth. Since this process occurs gradually, without retention, the teeth may tend to shift back to their original positions.

Lifelong Retention: Why It’s Important
After the active phase of treatment is complete, it is extremely important to maintain the results achieved—otherwise, the teeth may begin to shift back over time. The retention period typically lasts about twice as long as the treatment itself: for example, if braces were worn for two years, it is recommended to use retainers for at least four years. However, even this is not always sufficient. Studies show that the tendency toward slight shifts, especially in single-rooted teeth (such as incisors), can persist even after a long time. This is because the periodontal fibers stretch when the teeth are moved, but they do not disappear completely and, over time, tend to pull the teeth back to their original position.

That is precisely why lifelong retention is increasingly recommended today. A combined approach is considered the most reliable: a fixed retainer on the inner surface of the teeth and a removable night guard. A fixed retainer can last for years without the need for routine replacement, provided it is securely fixed in place. It is important to have regular checkups and maintain thorough oral hygiene. The retainer is usually worn at night, alternating between the upper and lower jaws, and over time, the frequency can be reduced—for example, to a few times a week. When the retainer wears out, it is replaced with a new one.

How to Care for Your Braces
As long as you maintain good oral hygiene, wearing braces won’t cause any problems. It’s important to understand that braces themselves are not harmful, and any changes to the enamel are due to poor oral hygiene. Food particles get trapped between the archwire and the tooth surface, forming plaque. Bacteria feed on food debris and produce acid that erodes the enamel—this increases the risk of cavities.
Oral Hygiene
To keep your teeth healthy, follow these simple rules:
  1. brush your teeth in the morning and at night;
  2. brush after every meal;
  3. use orthodontic toothbrushes and interdental brushes—they’re specially shaped to clean hard-to-reach areas;
  4. floss;
  5. use a water flosser.

Professional Cleaning
Get regular professional dental cleanings from your dentist. This will help remove plaque and tartar from hard-to-reach areas.

Possible Sensations and Adaptation
In the first few days after installation, you may experience some minor discomfort—this is your body’s natural reaction to the teeth beginning to move. You may feel some mild sensitivity, and the mucous membrane may sometimes become irritated by the new components of the appliance. The adjustment period usually lasts about 3–7 days, after which the discomfort subsides, and you’ll hardly notice it anymore.

However, if the discomfort does not subside or becomes more severe, you should consult your dentist. A specialist will help adjust the system and make wearing it as comfortable as possible.
