When Tooth Extraction Is the Best Option.
Despite the desire to save a tooth, there are situations where this is not possible. If the “foundation”—the root—is damaged, restoration becomes unreliable. In cases of cracks, deep decay, or chronic inflammation, extraction followed by implantation is a safer and more long-term solution.

Extraction is recommended if:
  • decay extends deep beneath the gum line;
  • cracks in the root or lesions in the bifurcation area are detected;
  • the tooth is significantly loose due to periodontitis;
  • the inflammation does not respond to treatment;
  • the tooth interferes with orthodontic or prosthetic treatment;
  • wisdom teeth are erupting incorrectly (at an angle, toward the cheek, or toward adjacent teeth).

At MONÉ Dental Clinic, tooth extraction is not just a procedure, but a stage in a comprehensive treatment plan. We focus on long-term results: we preserve bone tissue, minimize trauma, and create optimal conditions for further restoration, including dental implants.
Tooth extraction can be a simple and stress-free process—when everything is planned down to the last detail.

How a Tooth Extraction Is Performed
at MONÉ Dental Clinic
If you are receiving local anesthesia, it is recommended that you have a light meal before your appointment.
If sedation is planned, you must fast: do not eat for 5 hours and do not drink for 3 hours before the procedure.
It is important to inform your doctor about any chronic conditions, allergies, and medications you are taking.
Consultation and Diagnosis
X-ray images are examined and analyzed, and the treatment plan and complexity of the procedure are determined.
Anesthesia
All procedures are performed under effective local anesthesia. If necessary, medication-based sedation may be used to ensure the patient’s maximum comfort.
Extraction
Extraction is performed using the least invasive methods possible to preserve bone tissue. In complex cases, the tooth may be sectioned into pieces to allow for atraumatic removal.
Completion of the procedure
If necessary, stitches are applied; the patient receives detailed instructions and remains under the clinic’s care.

Levels of Difficulty in Tooth Extraction
Simple Extraction
This procedure is performed when a tooth is already loose, such as in cases of periodontitis and loss of bone support. In such cases, the extraction is straightforward and typically takes 10–15 minutes. Despite its simplicity, the procedure is always performed under local anesthesia to ensure the patient’s complete comfort.

Moderately Complex Extraction
This category includes teeth with a single root that are firmly anchored in the bone—incisors, premolars, and canines. Some of these, especially canines, have long and massive roots. To minimize trauma, the dentist may carefully section the tooth into parts and remove it in stages.

Complex Extraction (with Root Sectioning)
This most often involves multi-rooted teeth, such as molars. Their roots may have complex shapes, be intertwined, or be located near anatomically significant structures—such as the mandibular nerve or the maxillary sinus. In such cases, the tooth is divided into fragments and removed in stages. This allows for maximum preservation of bone tissue, which is especially important when planning dental implant placement.

Why Do We Place Stitches
After a Tooth Extraction?
After extraction, a blood clot forms in the socket—a natural defense that promotes healing and prevents infection.
Suturing helps securely hold the clot in place, accelerate tissue repair, reduce the risk of complications, and ensures:

Rapid Healing
Stitches promote faster tissue repair and help reduce swelling and bleeding.
Patient Comfort
Securing the wound reduces discomfort, makes eating easier, and does not interfere with speech.
Stabilizing the Blood Clot
Movement, tilting the head, or an increase in pressure can cause the blood clot to shift or fall out. The sutures securely hold the tissues in place and protect the socket.
Preventing Inflammation
If the blood clot is lost, food and saliva can enter the open socket, increasing the risk of alveolitis and other complications.
